Deskripsi
Total Productive Maintenance atau TPM adalah salah satu metode proses maintenance yang dikembangkan untuk meningkatkan produktivitas di area kerja, dengan cara membuat proses tersebut lebih reliable dan lebih sedikit terjadi pemborosan (waste). Metode ini merupakan bagian dari Lean Manufacturing.
TPM berfungsi untuk memelihara pabrik dan peralatannya agar selalu dalam kondisi prima. Untuk memenuhi tujuan ini, diperlukan maintenance yang prefentif dan prediktif. Dengan mengaplikasikan prinsip TPM kita dapat meminimalisir kerusakan pada mesin. Masalah yang umum terjadi pada mesin misalnya kotor, mur dan baut hilang, oli jarang diganti, kebocoran, bunyi-bunyi tak normal, getaran berlebihan, filter kotor, dan sebagainya dapat diminimalisir dengan TPM.
